card ideas

... just a few quick card ideas I came across when finding the pictures for my previous post...
These are very easy and fast - also a great use of paper scraps! Just be sure to use pop dots or foam tape so your cards aren't flat :)

This is kind of a unique card I made for my parents (a joint birthday gift)... below is also the inside of the card, as well as a slightly different take on the same design.

some home decor projects...

Yesterday I returned from a trip to see my friends & family in Lethbridge, Alberta. While there, I did a handmade card workshop on Monday night - it was a lot of fun, we were done in good time, and it was a nice evening with old and new friends :) I promised to post some pictures of some of the home decor projects I've done - so, here you are!

A gift for my niece, Chelsie. The frame and letters were purchased at my local scrapbook store Clipper Street Scrapbooking

I took a class with Deanna Hutchinson at Clipper Street - we made the middle canvas (12x12) in the class. I then later added the two 6x12 canvases to each side for West & East Coast.

My sister Leanne gave me this cool vinyl wall art/quote... I made each of the frames/canvases and arranged them on the wall around the quote.

I visited New York City a few summers ago with my brother Curtis - and LOVED the city! It was always a dream to go there, and I took hundreds of photos in three days. (looking forward to going back someday) I created this canvas arrangement for my front hallway. The top 3 canvases are 12x12 and the bottom three are 12x24. The large photos are 12x18, printed at Costco.

A co-worker liked the canvases so much, she asked me to make her a set, too. She had a few changes (photos in color, Times Square in the centre) so they're a little different...

A baby gift for my cousin.

These canvases with family photos I created a number of years ago, and will be re-doing them soon. Stay tuned!

Excellent Christmas gifts - calendars on thin 'canvases' (from the dollar store)...

Card Class

I've been asked by a few people to have another card class.... so I'm offering a class/workshop with a new set of cards. The details:

- Monday, March 30 @ 7:00 pm (start early so we don't go too late!)
- At my house (unit #214... let me know if you need directions)
- Cost $25
- You go home with a total of 10 completed cards with envelopes: 5 unique designs, we make 2 of each design.
- You don't need to bring anything - all supplies, tools and adhesives are included.
- Beginners are very welcome!

You are very welcome to invite a friend! Please RSVP as soon as possible - as seats are limited. If you want to come, but the date doesn't work for you, let me know - if I get a number of ladies who can't make the date, we can change it!

I designed the cards today, so here they are... (subject to change, if I run out of specific supplies while making the kits)

youth group Progressive Dinner

Last night I hosted some of our youth group for their Progressive Dinner... I (of course) wanted to do appetizers. What fun coming up with some new, fun things to make!
Cukecumber rounds with cream cheese, tomatoes, chedder cheese, dill & parsley. (so cute when they asked if they could eat the 'green stuff' ... aka dill & parsley)! Terriaki wings. Hot cheese dip with crackers & pretzels and ham, sausage and pickles. Orange cranberry juice with fruit garnishes. And bruschetta... or not! I forgot about the first round of bruschetta... it burned, so quickly made another round... we started playing "Buzz Word" and I forgot about the 2nd batch! Sorry guys!

a beautiful family

This past Christmas, my friend Jocelyn gave my sister a CD with all the photos from their family photo shoot... I quickly asked Leanne to give me the disc so I could make a gift for Jocelyn with them :) So excited to work with the beautiful shots - and so fun to surprise Jocelyn!

The album is from Close to My Heart - a 6x6 display album that comes assembled with a nice white cover, built-in 'stand' and page protectors.

Beautiful, creative photos by Andrea Devisser Photography: http://www.andreadevisserphotography.com/

(the blank page is for a photo of James - missed getting an individual one of him during this shoot)

changes around my home

I find that every January/February, I get the itch to change up the decor around my place. Maybe it's taking down all the Christmas decor, maybe the start of a new year, or maybe it's the 'hump' of winter...

this year, I moved a few things on the walls & put up a bulletin board with friends and family photos. I also recovered a chair I've been meaning to do since Oma bought it for me at a garage sale years ago! With some help from Sandra and Donal & a good sale on fabric at Joann's, I have a new chair at the top of the stairs for only $25.00 :)

I got a new bed (thanks, Mom & Dad) and had fun making new pillows (with my new sewing machine, thanks to Leanne!). Still need to make a headboard and window drapes, but I'm lovin the new patterns and fabrics so far.
